ComparePetCover is an independent, US-focused pet insurance comparison site. We are not an insurer and we don't sell policies. We exist to make an often-confusing purchase easier to understand. The site is built and maintained in-house, with content focused on clear, jargon-free explanations of how pet insurance actually works.

How we research and compare
The accident-and-illness averages in our cost-by-state study come from two published primary sources and one formula. The national base is the NAPHIA State of the Industry Report 2026 (full report, page 22): in 2025 the average US accident-and-illness premium was $836 a year for dogs and $435 for cats. We adjust both figures for each state with the Regional Price Parities published by the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (All Items, 2024). Every page is written for accuracy and reviewed and updated regularly. You'll see a "last updated" date on our guides. Our cost figures are estimates that vary by pet, breed, age, and ZIP code, and should always be confirmed directly with each provider before purchasing. When facts change (prices, coverage terms, provider offerings), we update the affected pages.
How we make money
